Abstract:System of nonlinear partial differential equations, which describes the multi-walled carbon nanotube nonlinear oscillations, is derived. The Sanders-Koiter nonlinear shell theory and the nonlocal anisotropic Hooke’s law are used in this model. Three kinds of nonlinearities are accounted. First of all, the van der Waals forces are nonlinear functions of the radial displacements. Secondly, the nanotube walls displacements have moderate values, which are described by the geometrically nonlinear shell theory. Thir… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations –citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
