Nonparametric Instrumental Variables Estimation Under Misspecification

Abstract: We show that nonparametric instrumental variables (NPIV) estimators are highly sensitive to misspecification: an arbitrarily small deviation from instrumental validity can lead to large asymptotic bias for a broad class of estimators.
