Pontius, Kilbourne & Paul (1956) found associated injuries in 30% of their cases of abdominal injury and point out the diagnostic pitfalls and increased mortality of this group. In the present series associated injuries sometimes caused delay in diagnosis of a ruptured abdominal viscus, and both these factors increased the mortality of abdominal injury.…”
