Novel Carbon Dots Derived from Puerariae lobatae Radix and Their Anti-Gout Effects

Abstract: Gout is a disease with a high incidence and causing great harm, and the current treatment drugs are not satisfactory. In this study, novel water-soluble carbon dots (CDs) with anti-gout effect, named Puerariae lobatae Radix CDs (PLR-CDs), are reported. PLR-CDs were synthesized with an improved pyrolysis method at 300 °C, and their characterization was performed with multifaceted approaches, such as transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and ultraviolet–visible (UV–vis) and Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spe… Show more

“…Green CDs derived from PCC were prepared by a one-step calcination method ( Figure. 1), as previously reported 46 . Briefly, PCC placed in crucible was heated in a pre-heated furnace at 400 ℃ for 1 h, followed by grounding into fine powder after the furnace cooling to 40 ℃.…”

“…Green CDs derived from PCC were prepared by a one-step calcination method (Fig. 1 ), as previously reported [ 45 ]. Briefly, PCC placed in crucible was heated in a pre-heated furnace at 325 ℃, 400 ℃ and 475 ℃ for 1 h, respectively, followed by grounding into fine powder after the furnace cooling to 40 ℃.…”

“…With regard to anti-inflammation induced by LJFC-CDs, they markedly declined levels of IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α in LPS-induced heating models [ 116 ]. Besides, AFIC-CDs [ 117 ] and PLR-CDs [ 118 ] ameliorated the degree of joint swelling in gouty arthritis, and the former reduced the levels of IL-1β and TNF-α in a dose-dependent manner. Furthermore, treatment of psoriasis-like inflammation with PCC-CDs not only reduced the IL-6 and TNF-α, but also decreased the IL-17A and IL-23 levels.…”
