2002 selenium, Se selenium, Se I 0052 02 -019 Novel Cationic Selenium-Cluster Nitride Species [SenN] + (n = 1-11) Formed by Laser Ablation of a Se Target in the Presence of N 2 . -Novel nitride cations of selenium clusters, [SenN] + (n = 1-11), are produced by a combination of laser ablation (Se target, N 2 /He atmosphere) and supersonic expansion. Even at high N 2 partial pressures mononitride cations are the dominant products. The results of photodissociation experiments with small [SenN] + cations (n = 1-5) demonstrate their photostability. Ab initio calculations (B3LYP and MP2 levels) show that [Se 2 N] + has a very stable linear structure, while the most stable structures for [SenN] + (n = 3-5) are monocyclic rings (C 2v ). -(LIU, HAICHUAN; YANG, XIN; LIN, ZHENYANG; LOY, MICHAEL M.
