Novel colloidal nanofiber electrolytes from PVA-organoclay/poly(MA-alt-MVE), and their NaOH and Ag-carrying polymer complexes

Abstract: Novel multifunctional polymer nanofiber electrolytes with covalence crosslinked structures from various solution blends of reactive intercalated poly(vinyl alcohol)/octadecylamine montmorillonite (as a matrix polymer), poly(maleic anhydride‐alt‐methyl vinyl ether) (as a partner polymer) and their NaOH‐absorbing and Ag‐carrying polymer complexes were fabricated via electrospinning. Chemical, physical, morphological, and electrical properties of nanofiber structures were investigated by FTIR, XRD, SEM, and elect… Show more

“…The surfactant not only hindered aggregation of nanowires, but also induced anisotropic growth of Ag nanowires. Various types of surfactants are also frequently used to assist and control the anisotropic growth of the atomic Ag nanoparticles to Ag nanowires that include hexadecyl-trimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) [51][52][53], sodium dodecyl sulfonate [54][55][56], vitamin B 2 [57][58][59], polyvinyl acetate (PVA) [60,61], dextran [62] and polymethyl vinyl ether [63]. In most chemical approaches, the employed charged precursor contains ions of the desired metal [64].…”
