There are a lot of elements that make road safety assessment situations unpredictable and hard to understand. This could put people's lives in danger, hurt the mental health of a society, and cause permanent financial and human losses. Due to the ambiguity and uncertainty of the risk assessment process, a multi-criteria decision-making technique for dealing with complex systems that involves choosing one of many options is an important strategy of assessing road safety. In this study, an integrated stepwise weight assessment ratio analysis (SWARA) with measurement of alternatives and ranking according to compromise solution (MARCOS) approach under a spherical fuzzy (SF) set was considered. Then, the proposed methodology was applied to develop the approach of failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) for rural roads in Cosenza, southern Italy. Also, the results of modified FMEA by SF-SWARA-MARCOS were compared with the results of conventional FMEA. The risk score results demonstrated that the source of risk (human) plays a significant role in crashes compared to other sources of risk. The two risks, including landslides and floods, had the lowest values among the factors affecting rural road safety in Calabria, respectively. The correlation between scenario outcomes and main ranking orders in weight values was also investigated. This study was done in line with the goals of sustainable development and the goal of sustainable mobility, which was to find risks and lower the number of accidents on the road. As a result, it is thus essential to reconsider laws and measures necessary to reduce human risks on the regional road network of Calabria to improve road safety.

In this paper we aim to provide an extension of the personality style based psychological comparative assessment of salesmen using three orientations such as task, people and organizations ("Sales Troika" or ST). Contrasting to the classical ST model, we use Spherical Fuzzy Set (SFS) for ranking of statements and subsequent score calculations. Personality Assessment (PA) is an important aspect during the process of recruitment and selection. PA acts as one of the critical success factors (CSF) for effective selection as personality significantly influences the performance of the employee. The psychological frameworks follow conventional scoring which suffers from subjective bias. The present paper attempts to offset the subjective bias (due to imprecise and uncertain information) by using SFS based rating and calculations. The study is carried out in two steps. First, a group of five (5) candidates applying for sales job at the junior level have taken part in the comparative assessment process. We use our framework to classify the respondents according to their style. Second, we carry out a SFS based Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) for their relative ranking based on the opinions of the members of a selection panel. To carry out the comparative assessment of the candidates based on experts' ratings, we use the modified SF LOgarithmic Percentage Change-driven Objective Weighting (LOPCOW) method. We examine the stability and accuracy of the SFS-MCDA model through validity testing and sensitivity analysis. We observe a resemblance between the decision of the panel and the personality assessment results.

The present paper aims to propose a new hybrid multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) framework with spherical fuzzy numbers (SFNs). We extend two recently developed algorithms such as level-based weight assessment (LBWA) and MULTIMOOSRAL in spherical fuzzy (SF) domain. We present a case study on six MSME units belonging to engineering cluster for examining their leanness. MSMEs form the backbone of the socioeconomic growth and therefore garner attention of the policy makers. Lean manufacturing (LM) has been a key enabler for the last three decades which help the organizations to achieve business growth. We consider the criteria like leadership, supplier focus, customer focus, process management, waste, culture, human resource focus, technology use and communication, and awareness to compare leanness of the MSMEs using expert opinions. We find that committed leadership, waste reduction, and customer value are given more weightage by the experts for achieving leanness in SMEs. Furthermore, the results show that medium and small units with focused product line score high in terms of leanness. We validate the results obtained by our proposed method by comparing with the same derived by using another widely used approach such as Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). We carry out sensitivity analysis for examining the stability in the solution with the changes in the given condition such as variations in the criteria weights. Our results using SF-LBWA-MULTIMOOSRAL show reasonable accuracy and stability.
