Abstract:The bond between concrete and reinforcing steel bars in reinforced concrete structures is crucial. Prestressing strands with a diameter of 17.8 mm (0.7 in) transfer higher compression per unit area than smaller strands, improving moment capacity and shear strength and extending the girder span.
