Numerical study of a twin sphere pressure hull and outer fairing for manned submersible

Abstract: Manned submersibles are used for surveying and undenvater exploration missions. In this paper, an effort is made to do a preliminary design of a twin sphere hull manned submersible which can accommodate three crew members to operate at ocean depth of 1000 metre. The safety of the structure against elastic yielding is studied using ANSYS APDL. . The outerfairing of the hull is studied using ANSYS CFX to estimate drag forces induced on structure for various operating speeds to estimate effective horsepower (ERP)… Show more
