Numerical study of active mixing over a dynamic flow field in a T-jets mixer—Induction of resonance

Abstract: The flow field in a 2D T-jets mixer was simulated to study the effect of the pulsation/modulation of the jets flow rate on the dynamics of mixing. Different strategies, frequencies and amplitudes of the opposed jets flow rate modulation were tested. The modulation frequencies were set as multiples of the natural oscillation frequencies of the dynamics flow field. The natural flow frequencies are determined from the unforced flow, i.e. when the jets are not modulated. It is found that out phase modulation of th… Show more

“…design with injectors. [10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17] The dimensions and geometry are described below and presented in Figure 1. The diameter of the main tube (11.3 mm) in relation to the diameter of the injectors (1.59 mm) is selected based on sources for optimal mixing.…”

“…The diameter of the main tube (11.3 mm) in relation to the diameter of the injectors (1.59 mm) is selected based on sources for optimal mixing. [11,12,14,15] The reactor length is 165 mm long to accommodate the cross-current light source, longer than described in the cited literature. As it is longer, it is expected that chaotic mixing only occurs at the inlet and it gradually transitions to laminar flow toward the outlet.…”

“…Another group of methods that includes, for example, solution combustion, self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS), autocatalytic and other fast solidstate reactions, is based on the use of rapid synthesis [49][50][51][60][61][62][63][64][65][66][67][68][69][70][71]. Crystal growth can often be restricted by using nano-and microreactors, or synthesis methods that use spatial constraints [63,64,[72][73][74][75][76][77][78][79][80][81][82].…”
