O efeito das capacidades dinâmicas na sustentabilidade: uma investigação multissetorial na perspectiva da teoria da visão baseada em recursos

Abstract

Achieving sustainability performance seems to increasingly occupy the strategic agendas of organizations. But, are organizations investing in their strategic agendas in the 3 dimensions of this Sustainability? Would this Sustainability performance (Environmental, Social and Economic) be favored by the development of innovative dynamic Capabilities (Sensing, Seizing, Transforming) in a prolonged way? The existing literature brings results of researches focusing on another one of these dimensions, in a combination of these, or even, they bring inconclusive results. The main of this research is to analyze the effect of innovative dynamic capabilities on Sustainability performance (Environmental, Social and Economic). The hypothesis we have adopted is that the development of innovative dynamic capabilities (Sensing, Seizing, Transforming) favor Sustainability performance over time. For that, we used a longitudinal multiple linear regression analysis of data from the Innovation Research in Brazil (PINTEC), for the period 2003-2014, with a sample of 48 productive sectors (extractive, transformation and services industry) and 244 observations. As main research findings, we highlight that Sensing and Seizing capabilities favor Economic Sustainability performance and Seizing favor in Social Sustainability, the same not true for Environmental Sustainability. Also, the Transforming capability did not show absolute results on any of the dimensions of Sustainability, showing partial association for Economic, Environmental and Social Sustainability. For the economic dimension, innovative dynamic capabilities favor Sustainability and therefore, our findings confirm that the economic mindset is still prevalent.
