Lifestyle recommendations are first-line elements in the management of arterial hypertension. This cross-sectional study aimed to analyze the level to which lifestyle recommendations are used in hypertension management in France, using data from the Esteban study, which was implemented by Santé Publique France, France's public health agency, from 2014 to 2016 on a representative sample of the French population. The study sample comprised 440 adult Esteban participants who were aware they had hypertension and were aged 18-74 years old. The main outcomes were the proportion of participants who received lifestyle recommendations in their hypertension management plan, and the proportion of recommendations according to the three following dimensions: physical activity, weight loss, and changes in diet. Over half (57.0%) of the 440 participants declared they did not receive lifestyle recommendations as part of their hypertension management plan in the year preceding the study.Of these, 39.0% did not receive pharmacological treatment either. Physical activity was recommended to 31.8% of sedentary participants and weight loss to 26.8% of participants with overweight or obesity. One-fifth of the study sample (20.1%) received dietary recommendations. Of these, 69% and 10.7% were advised to limit their salt and alcohol intake, respectively. Lifestyle interventions are too rarely recommended in hypertension management plans in France. Adherence to lifestyle recommendations needs in-depth discussion not only at the time of diagnosis but also throughout follow-up.

Background: Despite the vulnerability of older adults and the importance of social support following the death of a child, little research has been conducted on the Iranian older population. This study aimed to explore perceived support among older adults after the death of a child. Materials and Methods: This study was carried out in Iran in 2020-2021 using a qualitative content analysis method. Semi-structured interviews with older adults who had experienced child death were used to collect data. To ensure the data's trustworthiness, Guba and Lincoln's criteria were applied. The Graneheim and Lundman method was used to analyze the data. Results: The participants' mean age was 70.41 years. The findings were organized into one theme, two main categories, and five subcategories based on 352 initial codes. Two main categories emerged from the participants' experiences: “supporting networks” and “giving support to others” with the theme of “healing emotional pain.” Following the death of a child, the older parents perceived support as recuperation from their hurt feelings. Conclusions: Receiving support from family, entourages, and society, as well as providing support to the family and parents with the same experience were protective factors against the effects of child death among older parents. To reduce the consequences of child death, older parents' health should be monitored through home care provided by nurses.

Introdução: O envelhecimento populacional no Brasil impacta a prevalência de doenças crônicas entre os idosos. Mudanças biológicas associadas ao envelhecimento, destacam a importância da adequação do estado nutricional para idosos, que enfrentam maiores desafios de saúde, especialmente em relação ao excesso de peso. A promoção de hábitos saudáveis é fundamental para prevenir e controlar possíveis doenças crônicas não transmissíveis (DCNTs). Entretanto, lacunas persistem no entendimento da relação entre o estado nutricional dos idosos e fatores socioeconômicos e comportamentais. Objetivo: Descrever o estado nutricional de idosos segundo características demográficas, socioeconômicas e de estilo de vida. Materiais e métodos: O estudo adotou um design transversal e examinou idosos de 60 a 80 anos, recrutados do banco de dados da pesquisa "Insegurança alimentar e nutricional em idosos na estratégia de saúde da família, Várzea Grande, Mato Grosso". As variáveis investigadas incluíram características demográficas, socioeconômicas e de estilo de vida, como sexo, idade, estado civil, raça/cor, renda familiar, escolaridade, atividade física, tabagismo, consumo de álcool, número de refeições, companhia durante as refeições e uso de telas. O estado nutricional foi avaliado usando o Índice de Massa Corporal (IMC), dividido em categorias de Eutrofia (IMC entre 22 e 27 kg/m²) e excesso de peso (IMC > 27 kg/m²), conforme os critérios de Lipschitz. As análises incluíram frequências absolutas e relativas para variáveis categóricas, com o teste do qui-quadrado utilizado para investigar diferenças na prevalência do estado nutricional com base nas variáveis estudadas. Resultados: A maioria dos idosos avaliados apresentava excesso de peso (59,6%), com maior predominância entre os do sexo feminino (62,3%), de 70 a 74 anos (63,8%), brancos (60,9%), com companheiro (60,9%), que estudaram 9 a 11 anos (67,9%) e com renda de 1 a 2 salários mínimos (60,9%). A associação estatística com o estado nutricional foi observada apenas para a escolaridade (p=0,011), com um percentual maior de eutróficos entre aqueles que estudaram 12 anos ou mais (68,4%). Além disso, foi observado um maior percentual de excesso de peso entre os praticantes de atividade física (65,5%), que bebiam (60,0%), não fumavam (60,8%), faziam o menor número de refeições (75,9%), estavam em companhia (60,5%) e utilizavam telas (62,2%) durante as refeições. Conclusão: Observou-se alta prevalência de excesso de peso entre os idosos, sendo a escolaridade a única variável associada ao estado nutricional. Esses resultados enfatizam a importância da educação na promoção da saúde e na adoção de hábitos alimentares e de estilo de vida saudáveis na população idosa.
