O HOSPITAL COMO PALCO DA VIDA EM SI: narrativas de psicólogas sobre a prática clínica socialmente referenciada

Abstract

This article presents perspectives of the psychological practice developed in hospitals from the conception of hospital as a stage of life itself, that is, a territory in which life presents itself with all the assisted subjects's cultural, social, economic and political complexity of their reality. As well as such aspects intersect and constitute these social subjects and impact on their life’s experience and suffering. This leads to a need for professional training for working in a hospital context in order to be in tune with what reality demands. The research was carried out with health psychologists linked to a large general hospital and aimed to analyze the psychological clinical practice, comparing the (in)visibility of social markers, considering its effects on the psychic suffering of the subjects treated. This is an exploratory research of a qualitative nature, with narrative interview as data production strategy and psychoanalysis the critical lens for the construction of the analytical itinerary. It was observed various demands that do emerge in the hospital environment put in evidence experiences of race, class, gender and sexuality, even if they are little explored and articulated with each other. Also, it was discussed the importance of recognizing the social position occupied by psychologists and the requirement for constant review of professional practice. Finally, this analysis calls for reflection on who the people assisted are, considering intersectional articulation as a challenge that Psychology needs to embody for its job, highlighting the responsibility and ethical implication in the face of professional practice.
