“…25,26 Thus, the obturator reproduces the anatomic integrity of the palate, in which the nasal, sinus, and oral cavities are individualized, and also protects the operated area, optimizing the healing process. 27 This article aimed to report a treatment case of a patient with pleomorphic adenoma of minor salivary glands, located in the palate, by means of partial maxillectomy and immediate installation of an interim denture base with palatal obturator. Also, we discuss the importance of this technique in the clinical evolution of the postoperative course in patients who underwent maxillectomy for further rehabilitation with definitive obturator prosthesis.…”

“…29 With the advent of osseointegrated implants, denture retention and stability have increased; therefore, greater improvements in speech, chewing, swallowing, and aesthetics are achieved in the treatment. 30,31 In addition, the use of oral implants in the rehabilitation allows the clinical inspection of possible recurrence of malignant tumors in case of patients with wide resection of the jaw and adjacent tissues. 32 Furthermore, the use of implant-supported dentures to rehabilitate patients with oronasal communication reduces the period of patient's adaptation when compared with conventional denture.…”
