Odd-even effect of quantum discord in the spin-1/2 Heisenberg two-leg ladder with ring exchange

Abstract: The singularity of quantum correlation has been widely regarded as a valuable indicator for quantum phase transition (QPT) in low‐dimensional quantum systems. In this paper, in a two‐leg spin ladder with ring exchange, the critical points of the system cannot be detected by analyzing the singularity of the quantum discord (a kind of quantum correlation). Instead, the discord exhibits a novel odd–even effect in the symmetry‐breaking (SB) regions, which can be used to detect the two critical points between the S… Show more

“…Generally, QE is regarded as the distinctive quantum correlations measures that can be employed to achieve quantum acceleration, but it can not be survived in the separable state [15]. On the contrary, QD can capture more information of quantum correlations due to nonzero in any separable state [16][17][18][19][20][21]. Moreover, QE only focuses on the traits of quantum correlation in a certain aspect (i.e., the separability of quantum states), while QD pays close attention to the amount of the quantum correlation itself.…”

“…Particularly, QD can identify many different types of phase transitions, such as the conventional QPTs (induced by the symmetry broken) [16], matrix product state (MPS)-QPTs [26], and topological QPTs [27]. Moreover, the linear scaling theory has also been established in multiple quantum spin systems [17,25,28]. This can enable us to receive the properties of huge size and real systems based on the results from a small size system.…”

“…Among various measures of quantum correlations, quantum discord has attracted much attention recently, which turns out to be a valuable complement to quantum entanglement. Two‐site quantum discord has been studied in various low‐dimensional quantum spin models, such as the matrix‐product‐state (MPS) models, the XY chain, the XXZ chain, the two‐leg spin ladder with ring exchange, and the Ising‐Heisenberg decorated lattice . In these models, quantum discord has shown some interesting properties.…”
