On Koopman Mode Decomposition and Tensor Component Analysis
William T. Redman
Abstract:Koopman mode decomposition and tensor component analysis are two tools that decompose high dimensional data sets into low dimensional modes that capture relevant features and/or dynamics. Despite their similar goal, the two methods are largely used by distinct scientific communities. For the first time, examine the two together and show that, under a certain (reasonable) condition on the data, the theoretical decomposition given by tensor component analysis is the same as that given by Koopman mode decompositi… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
