“…The most famous of Kraków's wooden churches is the Wooden Churches of Southern Małopolska, listed as a World Heritage Site in 2003 (Kurek and Iop, 2018), which includes six of the best-preserved and oldest wooden Gothic churches typical of the area (https://whc.unesco.org/en/statesparties/es, Church of the Archangel Michael, Binarowa Church of the Archangel Michael, Binarowa; Church of All Saints, Blizne; Church of the Archangel Michael, Dębno; Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Archangel Michael, Hacz ów; Church of St Leonard, Lipnica Murowana; Church of St Philip and St James the Apostles, Sękowa, Table 1). The churches were built using the horizontal log technique, common in Eastern and Northern Europe since the Middle Ages, and have complex spatial structures, including, in most cases, towers, naves and presbyteries, as well as external arcades (Lubowiecka et al, 2021). All churches are known for their superb carpentry details, as well as unique structural designs and engineering solutions.…”
