Abstract:We rigorously establish that, in the long-wave regime characterized by the assumptions of long wavelength and small amplitude, bidirectional solutions of the improved Boussinesq equation tend to associated solutions of two uncoupled Camassa-Holm equations. We give a precise estimate for approximation errors in terms of two small positive parameters measuring the effects of nonlinearity and dispersion. Our results demonstrate that, in the present regime, any solution of the improved Boussinesq equation is split… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
