Abstract:The amounts of isomeric heptanols and heptanones formed during liquidphase air oxidation of n-heptane at 150-160 "C were determined. It was found that the amounts of 2-heptanone and 2-heptanol were larger than could be expected statistically. This is explained by a slightly faster attack on the methylene groups near the chain ends during oxidation.
