On the Problem of Generating Sigma-Algebras by Topologies

Abstract

It is shown that not every σ-algebra can be generated by a topology. However, to any σ-algebra oi· there exists a larger one "close" to <A which is generated by a topology.For a special class of σ-algebras one also can find "close" sub-o-algebras generated by topologies. Introduction and notation
