Abstract:We introduce a projective Riesz s-kernel for the unit sphere S d−1 and investigate properties of N -point energy minimizing configurations for such a kernel. We show that these configurations, for s and N sufficiently large, form frames that are well-separated (have low coherence) and are nearly tight. Our results suggest an algorithm for computing well-separated tight frames which is illustrated with numerical examples.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
