“…As observed by Somogyi et al [ 74 ] in 18S rDNA trees (albeit with no support), we found that the Parachlorella clade is sister to the other two lineages in most amino acid-based trees; however, this position is occupied by the Marvania clade in the phylogenies inferred from nucleotide data. A recent 18S rDNA study [ 75 ] recovered Pseudochloris wilhelmii and the Parachlorella and Chlorella clades as part of a large assemblage that is sister to Marvania , a topology that contrasts with the finding that Marvania and Pseudochloris are sister taxa in all our analyses.…”

“…The third group of Zab-szék clones, was affiliated with the recently described Chloroparva and the revised Pseudochloris genera (Somogyi et al 2011(Somogyi et al , 2013 with relatively low pairwise similarity values, 97.3-97.9%, and therefore represented additional potential new species or genera. Type strain of Chloroparva pannonica was isolated from a soda pan in the same region close to Zab-szék (Somogyi et al 2011), an additional isolate from this genus was retrieved from Zab-szék itself (ACT 0602) and Pseudochloris isolates also originated from saline (marine) habitats (Henley et al 2004;Somogyi et al 2013). …”

“…Genomic DNA was extracted from the isolates with a DNeasy Plant Mini Kit (Qiagen, Hilden, Germany). PCR was performed with primer pairs Euk328f-Chlo02R [55,56] as described by Somogyi et al [57]. Reactions were carried out in a final volume of 50 μL using 2 μL genomic DNA, 0.2 mM of each deoxynucleotide, 1 U LC Taq (Thermus aquaticus) DNA polymerase (Fermentas, Vilnius, Lithuania), 1 × PCR buffer (Fermentas), 2 mM MgCl2, 0.325 mM of each primer and 20 μg of BSA (Bovine Serum Albumin) (Fermentas).…”
