La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo realizar un análisis bibliométrico profundo y detallado sobre la interrelación entre "Minería" y "Medio ambiente". De un total inicial de 56,329 documentos en Scopus, la investigación se centró en temáticas específicas relacionadas con la ingeniería, culminando en 3,742 documentos de relevancia. Mediante el uso de las herramientas avanzadas VOSviewer y Bibliometrix, se construyó un mapa de conocimiento ilustrativo, poniendo de manifiesto conexiones esenciales entre autores, con Abraham, J. y Kimijima, S. emergiendo como figuras líderes en el campo de la minería y medio ambiente. Se identificaron instituciones claves y colaboraciones internacionales, subrayando la prominencia de la Universidad Al-Farabi Kazakh National. Notablemente, se registró un incremento significativo en la producción académica durante el año 2023. Además, se detectó una inclinación en el uso de términos como "Mining", "Heavy Metals" y "Environment". Este estudio enriquece la literatura existente, subrayando tendencias emergentes, líderes destacados y nexos fundamentales en el ámbito de la minería y el medio ambiente.

The poor plasticity of coal results in a large amount of dust during the mining process, thereby posing a significant impact on mine safety and the health of workers. In order to address this issue, a method has been proposed to suppress dust by enhancing the plasticity of coal through injecting a reactive material, which forms a colloid within the coal. The results implicated that the self‐active colloidal dust suppressant, composed of sodium alginate, gluconolactone, calcium disodium EDTA, and sodium dodecyl sulfate, effectively improved the moisture content of coal seams and decreased the brittleness of coal. Scanning electron microscopy and specific surface area test revealed that the dust suppressant not only tightly adheres to the surface of the coal after the reaction, but also penetrates the coal pores and forms a colloid on both the inner and outer surfaces of the coal. The material is rich in carboxyl and hydroxyl groups, which forms hydrogen bonds with the carboxyl and hydroxyl groups present in coal. This interaction enhances the toughness of coal. Simultaneously, it has the ability to adsorb water and function as a moisturizer. The combined synergistic effect of these mechanisms fundamentally reduces dust production during the coal mining process.

As one of the most important energy resources in the world, coal contributes a great deal to the global economy. Therefore, despite the diversification of energy resources and transition to green energy, there are still a lot of seaports with coal terminals all over the world. Most of these ports are located within the city boundaries quite close to residential areas, and it’s difficult to underestimate their negative impact on the city’s ecology. Coal dust pollution is the main problem for the cities with coal seaports as coal terminals by their nature are active sources of fugitive dust. Coal is typically stored in large piles at port terminals, and these piles often generate significant quantities of coal dust when it’s windy or when the coal is disturbed or moved during the loading and unloading process. Coal dust is not just an aesthetic problem for the cities, it’s a threat to water quality and a possible danger to citizen’s health. The exposure of coal dust can be prevented using administrative and engineering control methods. Nowadays cities are becoming smarter by using innovative technologies to improve the quality of their citizen’s life. At the same time, ports are also becoming smarter and seeking strategies to innovate. The aim of this article is to review the most known smart technologies for coal dust control in the port cities. The scope of our study concerns not only ecological intelligent control systems driven by the Internet of Things technologies and big data analysis but also innovative solutions in traditional coal dust control technologies as water and fog dust suppression or membrane coal sheds construction. We have taken into consideration the proven or potential environmental, financial and social effectiveness of reviewed smart solutions.
