Online Energy Efficient Packet Scheduling with Delay Constraints in Wireless Networks

Abstract: Abstract-We study online energy-efficient packet scheduling in a multi-user AWGN channel. The objective is to minimize the overall energy consumption in both transmission and circuit by adapting packet transmission rates with individual packet delay constraints. The scheduling is online in the sense that the transmission rates are determined without any assumption about future packet arrivals. We consider a transmitter with a general input and the transmitter communicates with multiple receivers with different… Show more

“…Like the power model used in many literatures (e.g., [16]), the ith sensor node's transmission power P i ðrÞ required to reliably transmit data at the rate r is a convex increasing function. In this subsection, we consider a special case that all P i ðrÞði ¼ 1; .…”

“…On the one hand we regard multi-carrier systems, where Lagrange multipliers associated with the spectrum management problem will have the interpretation of marginal costs, cf. scheduling without frequency diversity [3], [4]. Second, the more general case of a multi-user interference channel will be considered.…”
