Migrant agricultural workers face various health inequities that have led to preventable illness and death. This paper investigates how material housing conditions have shaped physical and mental health outcomes for temporary foreign workers in Canadian agriculture. We conducted a scoping review of literature on migrant agricultural worker housing in Canada published between 2000–2022, analysing insights on the physical quality of workers’ housing in relation to international frameworks on housing quality. Our review revealed a range of housing-related health risks, including: (1) Sanitation, food security, and water; (2) Thermal safety, electricity, and utilities; (3) Habitability of structure, air quality, and exposure to hazards; (4) Spacing, privacy, and co-worker relations and; (5) Geographic proximity to necessary services and social opportunities. Although housing has been increasingly recognized as a social determinant of health, little research examines how migrant farmworkers’ accommodations shape their health outcomes, particularly in Canada. This scoping review provides timely insights and recommendations to inform research, policy, and public health interventions.

In this article, we critically explore the Canadian Poverty Reduction Strategy (PRS) with attention to whether, and how, elements of the strategy reflect indicators of policy recycling. Policy recycling here refers to instances where policymakers use previously designed and/or funded programs for a broader policy program or programmatic strategy. We draw from the analytic framework for policy recycling we first introduced in examining the PRS in Ontario, Canada. Our analysis suggests that the Canadian PRS reflects many of the indicators identified with policy recycling. As a result, we question whether the federal PRS is as much an exercise in political marketing or branding as it is a meaningful attempt at ameliorating persistent conditions of poverty for a number of Canadians. The PRS may in fact be an "opportunity" to convey to the public that the government is "tackling" a problem that, in reality, it may be only fine-tuning.En este artículo, exploramos críticamente la Estrategia Canadiense de Reducción de la Pobreza (ERP) con atención a si, y cómo, los elementos de la estrategia reflejan indicadores de reciclaje de políticas. El reciclaje de políticas aquí se refiere a casos en los que los formuladores de políticas usan programas previamente diseñados y / o financiados para un programa de políticas más amplio o una estrategia programática. Nos basamos en el marco analítico para el reciclaje de políticas que introdujimos por primera vez al examinar la ERP en (ubicación) (Autores, 2019). Nuestro análisis sugiere que la ERP 325 canadiense refleja muchos de los indicadores identificados con el reciclaje de políticas.
