Optic Nerve Hypoplasia; Case Report

Abstract

Optic nerve aplasia (ONA) is a rare neurodevelopmental disorder described by the congenital absence of the optic nerve, retinal vessels, and retinal ganglion cells, regardless of sex or race. Imaging methods are frequently used in the diagnosis. In our case, a 17-year-old male patient , came to the clinic because of a deviation in his left eye, the examination showed aplasia of the optic nerve in the left eye. In ON aplasia, reported cases may include severe Central nervous system (CNS) malformations. However, we recommend periodic systemic examinations along with occupational rehabilitation, parental education and mobility training for these unique children.
