Optical and structural properties of rice husk silicate incorporated borotellurite glasses doped with erbium oxide nanoparticles

Abstract: A system of erbium oxide nanoparticles doped rice-husk-silicate borotellurite glasses with compositional formula, {[(TeO2)0.7 (B2O3)0.3]0.8 (SiO2)0.2}1−y (Er2O3 NPs)y with y = 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04 and 0.05 was fabricated using the method of melt-quenching. Various characterizations and measurement techniques such as density and molar volume, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared, transmission electron microscopy and UV-Vis spectroscopy were carried out to study the structural, morphological and optic… Show more

“…122 Further, Er 3+ was used for a nonlinear opto-fiber enhancement in rice husk silicate-borotellurite nanocomposites. 19 The higher molecular weight of Er 3+ caused the increased density (i.e., 4.1900− 4.6003 g cm −3 ) of the glass composite.…”

“…The infrared light of higher wavelength (i.e., 1550 nm) emission invokes the notion that the Er 3+ -glass materials 12 can be a pronounced optical waveguide for numerous optical-fiber applications. The high refractive index (i.e., 2.6050−2.6794) and metallization metric (i.e., 0.3268−0.3414) of Er 3+borotellurite nanocomposites 19 suggest that the Er 3+ has high potentials in optical-fiber amplifications. 10).…”

“…To obtain greater thermal and chemical stability, and when optical transparency is required in excitation and lasing wavelengths in most glasses, SiO2 combination is considered. In most glasses for special applications requiring mechanical strength, the SiO2 composition is mostly considered [7].…”
