Optical coherence tomography angiography and the visual field in hypertensive and normotensive glaucoma

Abstract: Background. Hypertensive glaucoma (HTG) causes damage to the retinal ganglion cells and eventually to the entire visual pathway due to high intraocular pressure (IOP). However, increased IOP will also affect the vessel density (VD) of the posterior pole of the eye and the related retinal ganglion nerve fibres (RNFL). “…V naši předchozí práci, kde jsme porovnávali VD s RNFL v altitudinálních polovinách sítnic jsme u HTG zjistili střední korelaci (v horních polovinách sítnic r = 0,50 a v dolních r = 0,51). Toto je důležitý fakt, neboť alterace VD následně vede k poškození RNFL a tím i ke změnám v zorných polích [26]. K podobným závěrům o poškození RNFL a VD u jednostranných glaukomů došli i Yarmohammadi a spol.…”
