“…However detailed analysis and recent experiments [10,11] show that additional absorption will occur at the interface due to the excitation of SPPs, and thus that standard thin film models cannot fully describe the optical properties of such films. One approach to include this effect in standard models is to introduce an additional very thin layer at the interface to obtain a fit [11].
