The presented work explores the fabrication and performance analysis of a 10–20 wt% basalt fiber (BF) reinforced styrene‐ethylene‐butylene‐styrene toughened polypropylene (PP) composite. The effect of hybridization of 5 wt% cetrimonium bromide (CTAB) treated submicron particulate fly ash (FA) on various properties of the composites was investigated. The composites containing 5 wt% FA and 20 wt% BF offered the highest tensile and flexural strengths of ~48 and 99 MPa, respectively. Likewise, an impact strength of 1.08 kJ/m2 was possessed by the composite containing 5 wt% FA and 10 wt% BF. Thermomechanical and thermal decomposition analysis depicted a desirable increase in the storage modulus, glass transition temperature and a positive shift in the degradation temperature of all the composites compared to base matrix. The use of PP with naturally available basalt fiber, along with waste fly ash for the composite could be environmental benign and welcomed by industry.

Fiber‐reinforced composites have found their prominent place in various applications, including aerospace, automobile and marine manufacturing industries, because of outstanding properties obtained during composite preparation. One such aspect of improving the composite property is hybridization, where natural fibers (or both natural and synthetic fibers) are combined to obtain different composite structures for diverse applications. This research aims to hybridize the composite considering Kenaf fabric and Kevlar fabric reinforced in an unsaturated polyester matrix with different proportions. Three different laminate sequences (L1, L2, and L3) were developed by considering the fabric's stacking sequence, weave pattern, and orientation. The composite laminates prepared were tested where Taguchi's method (L9 orthogonal array) and artificial neural network were used to study influencing parameters for tribological behavior of the composite. From the practical information, a prediction model from the artificial neural network is applied to forecast the wear rate of the laminates at a broader range of operating factors beyond and within the test phase. The microstructures of the worn surfaces were investigated from a scanning electron microscope to confirm the wear principle of the laminates under different cases.

Flexible and optically transparent electrodes (TEs) are essential for most state-of-art organic optoelectronic devices (OOED). The demand for bendable electronic devices with aesthetic impact and multi-functionality has driven the rapid development of flexible TEs with improved optoelectrical and mechanical properties. However, conventional rigid TEs, that is, indium tin oxide (ITO) coated glass substrate (ITO/glass), cannot match smart devices' requirements in unique fields, like electrochromic devices, electronic skins, and wearable electronics, foldable displays, smart windows, and solar cells. To substitute extensively used ITO/glass electrodes has been endeavored because of the increasing price and inherently brittle ITO and glass substrate behavior. Emerging TEs based on the combination of the polymers substrate and conducting fillers like graphene, carbon nanotubes, metal nanowires, and transparent conducting oxides are bendable, lightweight, and inexpensive. They have shown substantial prospects to be used in the devices mentioned above. With each tiny development in these emerging TE's, such as outstanding optoelectrical and mechanical features in flexible electrodes, they become more suitable for practical applications in miscellaneous bendable devices. This review summarizes the comprehensive overview of the modern alternative flexible TEs and their implementation in bendable and stretchable devices.
