Optimal Criteria for the Selection of Probiotics, Based on their Mode of Action

Abstract: The objective of this review was to discuss some of the criteria which influence the selection of microorganisms with probiotic properties based on their mode of action. The most common bacteria that belong to the “group” probiotics are the Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium species/strains.
