Optimal Power Allocation for Integrated Visible Light Positioning and Communication System With a Single LED-Lamp

Abstract: In this paper, we investigate an integrated visible light positioning and communication (VLPC) system with a single LED-lamp. First, by leveraging the fact that the VLC channel model is a function of the receiver's location, we propose a system model that estimates the channel state information (CSI) based on the positioning information without transmitting pilot sequences. Second, we derive the Cramer-Rao lower bound (CRLB) on the positioning error variance and a lower bound on the achievable rate with on-off… Show more

“…Innovations in receiver diversity and computational methods, such as neural networks, have markedly improved positioning accuracy within Light Positioning Technologies [16]. Recent research has introduced innovative tracking algorithms and explored the potential of artificial intelligence in optimizing VLP signal decoding processes, addressing challenges such as the need for dense LED distributions [17], line-of-sight constraints [18], and the impact of environmental factors.…”

“…In [29], the relationship between channel gain distributions and UE's position and orientation was studied, and the symbol error probability was derived based on the least-square channel estimation and channel gain distributions, while the relationship between positioning and communication performance is not revealed. In [30], the intrinsic relationship between positioning errors and channel estimation errors was derived, and a robust joint power allocation scheme was proposed through the time division multiple access (TDMA). However, this relationship is statistical and implicit.…”
