Abstract:Carbon fiber reinforced carbons (CFRC) are used to work in extreme environments because of their erosion resistance, ablative ability, and high mechanical characteristics at extremely high temperatures. The production of such materials includes several cycles of gas-phase or liquid-phase densification of initially porous carbon fibers reinforcement. The paper analyzes the main process parameters and densification routes, and their role in the manufacture of CFRC with high performance. A method for calculating … Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
