Optimization of a cationic dye removal by a chemically modified agriculture by-product using response surface methodology: biomasses characterization and adsorption properties

Abstract: The present study investigates the alkaline modification of raw orange tree sawdust (ROS) for an optimal removal of methylene blue (MB), as a cationic dye model, from synthetic solutions. The effects of operating parameters, namely, sodium hydroxide (NaOH) concentrations, ROS doses in NaOH solutions, stirring times, and initial MB concentrations on dye removal efficiency, were followed in batch mode. The process optimization was performed through the response surface methodology approach (RSM) by using Minitab… Show more

“…Moreover, to define the optimum MIP, the following linearized Freundlich equation was used , LnB= Ln Knormalf+1n Ln Cewhere B is the mass of Fnx adsorbed per gram of polymer at the equilibrium (mg/g), C e is the concentration at the equilibrium (mg/L) of the incubated solution, K f (mg/g) and n are Freundlich values which are respectively the apparent affinity constant and the site number.…”

“…The most common technique used for cropping pattern optimization (CPO) is linear programming (LP). Efficient optimization methods for crop area planning are desired and beneficial to agricultural water management as they can decide how much water should be allocated to different cropped areas in order to obtain certain goals, such as maximizing benefit and minimizing water-use of an irrigation system [11][12][13][14].…”
