Optimization of a divided wall column for the separation of C4-C6 normal paraffin mixture using Box-Behnken design

Abstract: In the present study, simulation of a divided wall column (DWC) was carried out to study the product quality and energy efficiency as a function of reflux rate, liquid spilt and vapour split for the separation of C4-C6 normal paraffin ternary mixture. Rigorous simulation of the DWC was carried out using Multifrac model of ASPEN Plus software. Box-Behnken design (BBD) was used for the optimization of parameters and to evaluate the effects and interaction of the process parameters such as reflux rate (r), … Show more

“…The EF process was modeled and analyzed using Box-Behnken design (BBD) under response surface methodology (RSM). RSM facilitates in designing experiments, modeling, process parameter effects assessment and identifying optimum conditions for responses (Sangal et al 2013). BBD under RSM allows the identification and quantification of interactive effects of various parameters.…”

“…The Box‐Behnken design is an RSM technique, which was applied in optimization of a complex system such as the dividing‐wall column (DWC) , . RSM is a broad field containing a series of mathematical and statistical tools for design of experiments, evaluating the effects of a set of factors on the desirable responses, and is suitable in searching the optimum conditions of the factors which would lead to desirable responses .…”

“…Electrochemical (EC) treatment method is a feasible technique for wastewater treatment, including dairy wastewater (Bensadok et al, 2011;Borbón et al, 2014;Kushwaha et al, 2011b;Maiti et al, 2011;Qasim and Mane, 2013;Sangal et al, 2013a;Sharma, 2014;Sundarapandiyan et al, 2018;Tchamango et al, 2010;Un et al, 2014;Wang et al, 2017;Yavuz et al, 2011). EC treatment offers high removal efficiencies in compact reactors with simple equipment/instruments for control and operation of the process (Wang et al, 2017;Yavuz et al, 2011).…”
