Optimization of Experimental Parameters in the Solvent Extraction of Trans-Resveratrol from Pruning Waste of Vitis vinifera, Fetească Neagră Variety

Abstract: The past few decades have seen a marked expansion in market demand for food supplements with therapeutic value. Due to this demand, the recovery of vine waste for obtaining certain phytochemicals or plant synthesized compounds with health-promoting activities can be an important economic component, principally with the agreement of the European Union for resveratrol as a new food ingredient. For the sake of economic capitalization, it is necessary to determine optimum extraction parameters for maximum recovery… Show more

“…The RW samples consisted of a Fetească Neagră (W2), an indigenous Romanian variety valued for its deep color, medium tannins, and berry flavors, and a Cabernet Sauvignon (W4), a globally recognized grape chosen for its robust structure and potential for aging. Each wine sample was stored and handled under controlled conditions to preserve its chemical integrity until analysis, aiming to explore the influence of grape type and wine style on the levels of tRSV and enhance our understanding of how this phenolic compound varies within Romanian wines [265].…”

“…Among them, resveratrol, which is a natural polyphenol synthesised by plants, such as grapevine, in response to various stressful conditions (e.g., UV radiation exposure), has been one of the most explored bioactives in cosmetic industry. This compound has several biological effects, including antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties [58,59]. It is found in both cis and trans versions, with the trans thought to be the active form [60], being more thermo-and photostable than the cis form, which is very unstable [61].…”
