Optimization of Extraction Conditions for Determination of Tiliroside in Tilia L. Flowers Using an LC-ESI-MS/MS Method

Abstract: Tiliroside exhibits a wide spectrum of effects on the human body; considering expensive synthesis of tiliroside, linden trees seem to be a good source of this compound. For the first time, 46 various extraction methods were developed to receive tiliroside from Tilia L., including ultrasound-assisted extraction, maceration, maceration with stirring, accelerated solvent extraction, and extraction under reflux. The effects of extraction techniques, solvents, additives, and temperature on the content of tiliroside… Show more

“…The chemical structure of compound 1 was identified with MS/MS (Figure S1). It showed a quasi‐molecular ion at m/z 593.1 [M–H] – in the MS spectrum, and the molecular formula was suggested to be C 30 H 26 O 13 by comparison with the previous literature [41] (Structure shown in Figure S3A). In the MS/MS spectrum, two daughter ions at m/z 446.9 [M–H−146] − and 284.6 [M–H−146−162] − were ascribable to the fission of sites 1 and 2 in the molecule (Figure S3B).…”

“…The rest of linden samples had an average of 0.034%. There are no data on tiliroside content neither in the European Medicines Agency nor in the Real Spanish Pharmacopeia [ 43 ]. The content of tiliroside has been identified to be higher in inflorescences that in leaves in Tilia cordata (49.2 µg/g versus 16.1 µg/g) [ 44 ].…”
