Although a large number of multiattribute decision analysis (MADA) methods is available (Hwang and Yoon 1981), the theoretical and applied research about GIS-MADA has focused on a relatively small number of multiattribute procedures including: the weighted linear combination, ideal point methods, the analytic hierarchy process/analytic network process, and outranking methods (see Sect. 3.3.2). These four methods are discussed in this Chapter. We introduce the conventional MADA methods and discuss their extensions to the spatially explicit models (see Sect. 1.4). The chapter also provides a brief overview of GIS-based applications for each of the four methods.

Although the production of copper and its usage has been known for thousands of years, the search for the optimal process of its production is still in progress. The removal of the negative impacts of a certain technology could cost more, over a period of time, than the initial investment in the selection of the optimal technology process which would consider these effects. Hence, the selection should be supported by the innovative and modern tools, such as the applying of the multi-criteria analysis. This paper presents the implementation of the PROMETHEE/GAIA methodology for the ranking of the appropriate technological pyrometallurgical smelting process for the copper concentrate based on the eleven parameters which recognize the economic, ecological and technical aspects of the technological process. The implementation of the multi-criteria decision-making presented in this paper can be deemed as a contribution to the decision making tools, that is, to the one who makes a decision on the selection of the appropriate technological facility for smelting of the copper concentrates. The decision-makers faced with the practical need of evaluating and selecting the most appropriate technological process for pyrometallurgical copper extraction will get the greatest benefit from this multi-criteria model. The innovative contribution of this paper is also presented in the obtained model which systematically analyzes the ecological, economic and technical parameters of the copper extraction process.

Выбор пород деревьев, пригодных для создания лесозащитных полос вдоль автомагистралей, должен базироваться на исследовании адаптационного потенциала растений к автотранспортному загрязнению. Использование комплексного подхода к оценке состояния деревьев дуба черешчатого в экосистемах разной степени загрязнения позволило определить эту породу как высоко толерантную к воздействию автотранспорта и легкорастворимых солей, поступающих в экосистемы при применении антигололѐдных средств. Степень загрязнения экосистем определяли по содержанию в снежном покрове и в почве тяжѐлых металлов и легкорастворимых солей, содержанию тяжелых металлов в пыли, оседающей на листья. Показано, что содержание суммы неструктурных углеводов в ветвях деревьев в конце вегетационного периода и прирост ветвей в контрастных по загрязнению экосистемах были одинаковыми. Дуб способен переносить весеннее хлоридно-натриевокальциевое засоление почв средней степени. При этом накопление ионов Na + до 0,41±0,13 мг/г в листьях деревьев на засолѐнных почвах не приводит к изменению содержания в них калия. Одним из механизмов адаптации дуба черешчатого к засолению является увеличение содержания фракции дисахаров более чем в два раза относительно деревьев на слабозасолѐнных почвах.
