Optimization Properties and Characterization of Green Synthesis of Copper Oxide Nanoparticles Using Aqueous Extract of Cordia myxa L. Leaves

Abstract: Copper oxide nanoparticles (CuONPs) were green synthesized using aqueous extract of Cordia myxa L. leaves as reducing and capping agent. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by UV-visible spectrophotometer, FTIR, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope and atomic force microscope. The prepared copper oxide nanoparticles showed surface plasmon resonance centered at 400 nm. The optimized condition for the synthesis of copper nanoparticles revealed that the aqueous extract of Cordia myxa L. le… Show more

“…In addition, the particles biosynthesized by C. myrica extract were 11-80nm in size and spherical. Our findings are consistent with previous research (Dastjerdi and Montazer, 2010; Abboud et al, 2014;Thamer et al, 2018).…”

“…The UV-Vis absorption spectrum of the CuO NPs was analysed by forming a 0.1 wt% dispersion of the product using deionized water. The UV-Vis absorption spectrum (Figure 5a) illustrates a rather broad absorption which peaks at 387 nm and is most probably attributed to surface plasmon resonance (SPR) due to semiconductor excitation of CuO [42]. Using the Tauc plot approach, the band gap energy (E g ) of the CuO NPs was derived with the following equation:…”

“…The initial identification of the synthesized copper oxide nanoparticle using Annona muricata stem extract was done by the visual change of the colour of solution from blue to bright green which indicates the presence of copper oxide nanoparticles. [17], [22]. The Annona muricata stem extract does not show any colour change even if it is kept for several weeks until the copper sulphate solution was added to it.…”
