Abstract:A transient 3D mathematical model is developed to study the surging auxiliary slag skimming process in molten iron ladle. A new mathematical model using the large eddy simulation is built for the gas–metal–slag three‐phase flow in the ladle. The Eulerian volume of fluid model is used for tracking the liquid–slag–air free surfaces, and the Lagrangian discrete phase model is used for describing the bubble movement.
