Optimizing color fading effect of cotton denim fabric by enzyme treatment

Abstract: In this article, the effect of enzyme treatment using neutral cellulase on the color fading property of cotton denim fabric was studied. Four enzyme processing parameters namely treatment temperature, treatment time, pH value, and agitation were considered. To investigate the optimum condition for the enzyme treatment, an orthogonal analysis was used and, based on the K/S summation value (K/S Sum), the optimum condition for enzyme treatment in this study was treatment temperature ¼ 50 C; treatment time ¼ 30 mi… Show more

“…Orthogonal array testing strategy (OATS) analysis was used for determining the optimum treatment conditions [25][26][27][28][29]. Four variables which have been used previously [25][26][27] were adopted, i.e., the concentration of DMH, curing temperature, concentration of the bleaching solution, and the duration of chlorination and their respective effects on antibacterial properties were investigated.…”

“…Nowadays, users are taking more care of denim garments' lightweight, smoothness and softness properties. Especially, the laundering and the special treatments (enzyme and/or pumice washing for aged look) on denim garments are much spilled in the world (Card, Moore, & Ankeny, 2005;Kan, Yuen, & Wong, 2011;Sarıışık, 2004;Tarhan & Sarıışık, 2009;Vijayalakshmi & Ramachandran, 2012). The treatments of finishing denim garments during washing are the important parameters influencing cloth shade and the fabric mechanical properties (Khedher, Dhouib, Msahli, & Sakli, 2009).…”
