Optoelectronic Synaptic Transistors Based on Solution-Processable Organic Semiconductors and CsPbCl3 Quantum Dots for Visual Nociceptor Simulation and Neuromorphic Computing

Pu Guo,
Junyao Zhang,
Dapeng Liu
et al.

Abstract: Increasing attention has been paid to organic electronics emulating the characteristics and functions of the peripheral nervous system (PNS) and central nervous system (CNS) in living organisms, which has important implications for exploring electronics from the underlying architecture to emulate biological sensory synapses/ neurons and develop brain-like chips. However, the vast majority of current research has been limited to biomimetic electronics that implement the functionality of a single PNS or CNS. Her… Show more

“…In this era of information-driven development and big data artificial intelligence (AI), one of the most critical challenges faced is data storage and analysis. The very high density and fast response capability of memristors, which can store and process data at the component level, make them a superior application prospect in the field of information storage and processing. , A memristor is a controllable resistive device based on the internal electronic structure of a material with storage and memory functions. The resistance of a memristor can be adjusted by applying an external electric field or current. This change is reversible and can be repeatedly erased and written.…”

“…For example, various photosensitive materials including dyes, chlorophyll, and photosensitive quantum dots (QDs) have been reported to construct SWCNT synaptic transistors. QDs with high photochemical stability and tunable bandgaps are regarded as an effective strategy for creating artificial synaptic devices. However, many reported QDs have posed a potential threat to the environment during the large-scale production, highlighting the importance of developing environmentally friendly QDs synaptic devices. Additionally, the addition of QDs into the channel often leads to the degradation of electrical performance, including the decrease in conductivity causing reduced open-state current, the increase in subthreshold swing (SS), threshold voltage shifts, and noticeable hysteresis phenomena.…”
