Optogenetic regulation of astrocytes affects learning and memory

Abstract: Astrocytes are crucial for synaptic plasticity and memory formation. Astrocyte-derived factors, such as D-serine and lactate, have been suggested to enhance learning and memory likely via modulating NMDA receptor functions in neurons.
