Abstract: It is a well known fact that oral lichen planus (OLP) is a non infectious disease affecting the oral mucous membrane. It is considered to be an autoimmune disorder mediated mainly by the T-lymphocytes. It affects 1-2% of the general population with maximum prevelance seen among women above the age of 40. WHO considers it to be a potentially malignant disorder and the rate of malignant transformation has been put between 0.5-2%. “…In addition most literature sources point erosive and atrophic forms as carrying the highest malignant risk. 3,4,23 In the present study six patients with erosive form, five patients with atrophic form and one patient with bullous-erosive form were included. According to the results obtained in this study, a downward shift of the VAS score after LLLT occurred in all of the patients.…”

“…may have an increased potential for malignant transformation into OSCC. [6][7][8][9] These lesions are the precursor lesions for OSCC and diagnosis of these disorders are of prime importance to prevent malignant transformation as these can be reverted back if intervened correctly. The 5 years survival rate of patients with OSCC is found to be significantly improved when diagnosed early.…”

“…Erosiver oraler Lichen planus (EOLP), die zweithäufigste Form, geht oft mit erheblichen Schmerzen und Unbehagen für den Patienten einher und beeinträchtigt dadurch ihre Lebensqualität. Erosiver oraler Lichen planus hat ein erhebliches Potential zur malignen Transformation; das Risiko wird zwischen 0,5–2 % angesiedelt .…”
