Organic Light-Emitting Diodes Having Carbon Nanotube Anodes

Abstract: Single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) films on flexible PET (polyethyleneterephthalate) substrates are used as transparent, flexible anodes for organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). For polymer-based OLEDs having the structure: SWNT/PEDOT-PSS:MeOH/TFB (poly(9,9-dioctylfluorene-co-N-(4-butylphenyl)diphenylamine)) + TPD-Si(2) (4,4'-bis[(p-trichlorosilylpropylphenyl)phenylamino]biphenyl) /BT (poly(9,9-dioctylfluorene-co-benzothiadiazole))/CsF/Al, a maximum light output of 3500 cd/m(2) and a current efficiency of … Show more

“…A high density CNTs film will lead to lower sheet resistance but will also result in lower transmittance. [91] The resistance of the CNT networks comes from the contact resistance between the overlapping CNTs and the resistance of the CNTs themselves depending on the CNT length, diameter, the ratio of metallic and semiconducting CNTs (M/S ratios), synthesis method and the purity of the CNTs. In addition, rough surface of the CNTs film is another major concern for its application as flexible BTE in the flexible OSCs, which may lead to significant shunt resistance losses.…”

“…Other important features of SWCNTs are mechanical strength and high elasticity [21,22]. Those properties determined SWCNTs utilization for applications in rigid [23][24][25] and flexible transparent electronics [26][27][28][29] as well as in optoelectronics [30][31][32]. Transparency, great electrical properties, and inherent nanometer size of SWCNT have motivated the interest to the SWCNT plasmonics.…”

“…This property can be very useful for applications such as chemical sensors [5], gas storage [6], optical limiter [7], field transistor [8], solar cell [9], organic light-emitting diodes [10][11][12], etc. Several methods have been successfully developed to treat CNTs by introducing impurities inside the tube or on the surface in an effort to change the electrical properties of CNTs.…”
