Origin and evolution of paramagnetic states in mixtures of ZnO and carbon nanoparticles during intensive mechanical treatment

Abstract: In this study, the microstructural evolution and reaction processes in the mixture of ZnO ? xC nanoparticles during prolonged high-energy mechanical activation were explored. The formation of paramagnetic centers has been identified. It was observed that the evolution of various paramagnetic defects reveals several macroscopic flow processes that take place in the system. Some of these processes are the destruction of primary durable nanoparticle ZnO aggregates, the crushing of individual nanoparticles (250-14… Show more

“…Note that information related to the preparation of the samples (ZnO, ZnO with additives of SnO 2 , TiO 2 , MnO 2 , NiO, Gd 2 O 3 ), and the study of the formation and evolution of different paramagnetic centers during Mechanical Processing have been previously described for our group [26,27,33,[43][44][45][46][47]. The formation of different paramagnetic states during MP of ZnO þC mixtures had been described in [48]. In this study, the data related to the origin of Mn 2 þ EPR sextet S(II) during MP of ZnO þ C mixture are presented and the nature of its formation is discussed.…”
