Chemical Titles, and readily available journals ending November 30, 1973. This period has seen a continued growth in the use of polarography and related electrochemical techniques to follow chemical reactions and to supplement other physical and spectral measurements for purposes of characterization. Interest in applications toward biochemical and pharmaceutical problems has also increased. There also appears to be renewed interest in utilizing polarographic and related electrochemical data to predict and follow organoelectrochemical synthesis.In this review the symbols cv, dc, ac, and op are used to identify cyclic voltammetry, direct current polarography, alternating current polarography, and oscillographic polarography, respectively. Also, no attempt was made to list all organic polarographic references.

“…[18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30][31] DNP MAS NMR has been recently applied to functionalized silica and SiO x /Al O 3 materials to obtain chemical bonding information. [18][19][32][33][34][35][36] Here we present the results of both conventional and Si-29 DNP MAS NMR experiments on Pt@mSiO 2 , PtSn@mSiO 2 , and MCM-41 aimed at comparing the atomic-scale structure of the mesoporous silica in these three materials. Of particular interest are the possible changes in the distribution of Q x functionalities (where Q signifies a quaternary Si atom bonded to four oxygen atoms and x refers to the number of other Q units connected to the Si tetrahedron) induced upon incorporation of Sn into Pt@mSiO 2 seed particles.…”

Mesoporous silica encapsulated Pt (Pt@mSiO 2 ) and PtSn (PtSn@mSiO 2 ) nanoparticles (NPs) are representatives of a novel class of heterogeneous catalysts with uniform particle size, enhanced catalytic properties, and superior thermal stability. In the ship-in-a-bottle synthesis, PtSn@mSiO 2 intermetallic NPs are derived from Pt@mSiO 2 seeds where the mSiO 2 shell is formed by polymerization of tetraethyl orthosilicate around a tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide template, a surfactant used to template MCM-41. Incorporation of Sn into the Pt@mSiO 2 seeds is accommodated by chemical etching of the mSiO 2 shell. The effect of this etching on the atomicscale structure of the mSiO 2 has not been previously examined, nor has the extent of the structural similarity to MCM-41. Here, the quaternary Q 2 , Q 3 and Q 4 sites corresponding to formulas Si(O 1/2 ) 2 (OH) 2 , Si(O 1/2 ) 3 (OH) 1 and Si(O 1/2 ) 4 , in MCM-41 and the mesoporous silica of Pt@mSiO 2 and PtSn@mSiO 2 NPs were identified and quantified by conventional and dynamic nuclear polarization enhanced Si-29 Magic Angle Spinning Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (DNP MAS NMR). The connectivity of the -Si-O-Si-network was revealed by DNP enhanced twodimensional 29 Si-29 Si correlation spectroscopy.
