“…Parker (1934) divided the Microhylidae into seven subfamilies (Dyscophinae, Cophylinae, Asterophryinae, Microhylinae, Sphenophryninae, Brevicipitinae and Melanobatrachinae) mainly based on the morphology of anterior cranial elements, the sternum and terminal phalanges. Since then, comprehensive osteological researches are mainly focused on the Gastrophryninae Fitzinger, 1843, a subfamily of Microhylidae (de Sá & Trueb, 2012;Lavilla, Vaira, & Ferrari, 2003;Lehr, Rodríguez, & Córdova, 2002;Lehr & Trueb, 2007;Trueb, Diaz, & Blackburn, 2011).
