The aim of this study was to review research findings and information about chemical composition and application of bee drone brood homogenate for food purposes. As the world’s population grows, global warming and the impact of meat production on the ecosystem are increasingly being discussed. Various non-traditional sources of protein, such as insects and larvae, could replace traditional sources of meat protein in the future. Drone brood homogenate is obtained from honey bee drone larvae and is considered to be a very high value by-product of beekeeping. Scientific studies prove the prophylactic properties of drone brood homogenate to improve fertility and strengthen immunity against viral diseases. This product is rich in nutrients, amino acids, vitamins, minerals and hormones but a certain harvesting and processing technology is required to ensure that the product has a sufficient shelf life and an attractive appearance.

Objective. To analyze the literature data reflecting the medical and social significance of osteoporosis (OP), the prevention of osteoporotic fractures (OPFs), including that with Osteomed, Osteomed Forte, and Osteo-Vit D3 (Parafarm, Russia). Material and methods. The authors analyzed research articles reflecting the medical and social significance of OP, the prevention of OPFs, including that using Osteomed, Osteomed Forte, and Osteo-Vit D3 (Parafarm, Russia), Results. The paper presents the results of studying the effect of the new Russian drug Osteomed Forte on the hormonal status of women during the combination treatment of postmenopausal OP. The patients who took Osteomed Forte were observed to have an increase in bone mineral density and a decrease in the sizes of bone cavities, as well as their closure. Osteo-Vit D3 was a highly effective drug in preventing and treating recurrent bone fractures, including in children with OP. The efficacy of Osteo-Vit D3 in preventing recurrent fractures was noted to be highly competitive with that of calcium preparations made in foreign countries. Conclusion. Thus, Osteomed, Osteomed Forte, and Osteo-Vit D3 (Parafarm, Russia) can be recommended for the prevention of OPFs in patients with OP, by taking into account their age, gender, comorbidity, and a personalized approach when selecting a management strategy for a particular patient.

Objective. To analyse literature data reflecting the issue of prevention of calcium and vitamin D deficiency in osteoporosis. Material and methods. Analysis of 47 Russian and foreign publications on prevention of calcium and vitamin D deficiency in osteoporosis was carried out. Results and discussion. The role of vitamin D in maintenance of calcium homeostasis and bone metabolism has been shown. Lack of vitamin D is associated with the development of osteomalacia and osteoporosis in adults and rickets in children. It was noted that hypovitaminosis D was recognised as a worldwide pandemic. It was acknowledged that there was a need to develop dietary recommendations, supplementary intake of vitamin D to prevent, among other things, bone diseases in most countries of the world. The results of the study of the Russian drugs Osteomed, Osteomed Forte, Osteo-Vit D3 (Parapharm, Russia) were presented. Conclusions. Thus, combined preparations of Ca and vitamin D were of great importance for prevention and complex treatment of osteoporosis, for the compensation of calcium deficiency in adolescence, elderly, during pregnancy, lactation and after menopause. Combined calcium and vitamin D supplementation was more effective than monotherapy in slowing bone loss, reducing the risk of fractures, strengthening the skeletal musculature and reducing the probability of falls, disability and death, but promotes calcification of soft tissues and blood vessels. At the same time, the only osteoprotectors without the risk of calcification of blood vessels and soft tissue, as well as the development of atherosclerosis, to date recognized by the Russian line of drugs "Osteomed. The safety of this group of dietary supplements, including their use in the treatment of bone pathologies in children and adolescents, is ensured by the presence of a unique HDBA organic complex. This component, by correcting the hormonal status and maintaining an optimal level of androgens within the age norm, has an anabolic effect, stimulating the birth of new bone cells. It is activation of reparative processes at the cellular level that enables to realize the effect of targeted delivery of calcium into bone tissue.
