In addition to this more or less pronounced inhibition of the follicular development, several authors have described a thickening of tunica albuginea (2, 10,18,21) and perifollicular fibrosis (4, 10, 14, 18, 25) during long-term treatment with oral contraceptives. Only Ludwig (8) and Mall-Haefeli et al (9) have in a few cases observed apparently fresh corpora lutea during the first 2 months of treatment, but the activity of these corpora lutea was not normal, since the urinary excretion of pregnanediol was low.…”
